Dawn Sydney is a passionate legal advocate for her clients.
Dawn received her law degree from Washington University School of Law (St. Louis) in 1991. She has been licensed to practice law in the state of Washington since 2011. She was first introduced to Washington State family law as a paralegal with Skellenger Bender. Dawn started her own firm in September 2017. Prior to opening the Law Offices of Dawn Sydney, PLLC, Dawn was a family law attorney with Bucklin Evens, PLLC on Mercer Island and the Law Offices of Michael W. Bugni & Associates in Seattle.
Dawn spent many years working in public policy on social justice issues at the state and federal levels. She worked with non-profit organizations including Citizens for Missouri’s Children and the National Coalition for the Homeless. As an advocate with these organizations, Dawn produced several reports and was invited to teach at state, national and international conferences on diverse issues including health care, domestic violence, and legislative process and procedure. In law school, Dawn published an article in Encyclopedia of Childbearing (Oryx).
Dawn has engaged in extensive continuing legal education including the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Family Law Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado and the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence Advanced Custody Institute in Washington, DC.
Dawn is a member of the Washington State Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee. She holds active memberships in several organizations including the American Bar Association; King County Bar Association Public Policy Committee; and the King County Bar Association, Family Law Section. Dawn volunteers with local community organizations including Legal Voice, New Beginnings and Food Lifeline. She is a chapter editor for the Washington Family Law Deskbook.
Dawn is recognized by peers and was selected to Rising Stars for 2019, 2020 and 2021. This selection is based off of an evaluation of 12 indicators including peer recognition and professional achievement in legal practice. Being selected to Rising Stars is limited to a small number of attorneys in each state. As one of the few attorneys to garner the distinction of Rising Stars, Dawn has earned the respect of peers as one of the top-rated attorneys in the nation.
Dawn loves spending time with her family, spoiled dog and the great Pacific Northwest Mountains.
