Dawn Sydney is a passionate legal advocate for her clients.

Dawn received her law degree from Washington University School of Law (St. Louis) in 1991. She has been licensed to practice law in the state of Washington since 2011. She was first introduced to Washington State family law as a paralegal with Skellenger Bender. Dawn started her own firm in September 2017. Prior to opening the Law Offices of Dawn Sydney, PLLC, Dawn was a family law attorney with Bucklin Evens, PLLC on Mercer Island and the Law Offices of Michael W. Bugni & Associates in Seattle.

Dawn spent many years working in public policy on social justice issues at the state and federal levels. She worked with non-profit organizations including Citizens for Missouri’s Children and the National Coalition for the Homeless. As an advocate with these organizations, Dawn produced several reports and was invited to teach at state, national and international conferences on diverse issues including health care, domestic violence, and legislative process and procedure. In law school, Dawn published an article in Encyclopedia of Childbearing (Oryx).

Dawn has engaged in extensive continuing legal education including the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Family Law Trial Advocacy in Boulder, Colorado and the American Bar Association Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence Advanced Custody Institute in Washington, DC.

Dawn is a member of the Washington State Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee. She holds active memberships in several organizations including the American Bar Association; King County Bar Association Public Policy Committee; and the King County Bar Association, Family Law Section. Dawn volunteers with local community organizations including Legal Voice, New Beginnings and Food Lifeline. She is a chapter editor for the Washington Family Law Deskbook.

Dawn is recognized by peers and was selected to Rising Stars for 2019 and 2020. This selection is based off of an evaluation of 12 indicators including peer recognition and professional achievement in legal practice. Being selected to Rising Stars is limited to a small number of attorneys in each state. As one of the few attorneys to garner the distinction of Rising Stars, Dawn has earned the respect of peers as one of the top-rated attorneys in the nation.

Dawn loves spending time with her family, spoiled dog and the great Pacific Northwest Mountains.

Law Office Manager / Client Advocate

Meredith is involved in all aspects of the practice. After having practiced as a clinical psychologist for over 30 years, working at the Law Offices of Dawn Sydney, PLLC has been a welcome change for her. Each day presents new challenges and experiences and she loves helping clients in a whole new way. She is an invaluable resource in high conflict parenting cases.

When not in the office, Meredith enjoys quilting and weaving, hiking and spending time with family and friends.

Alexander Pierson

Alex Pierson

Attorney

Alex received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 2013 and his law degree from American University Washington College of Law (Washington D.C.) in 2019. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado.  Alex’s Washington State Bar admission is pending.

Alex was an executive board member of Journal of Gender, Social Policy & the Law (Volume 27) and student attorney for the American University Washington College of Law Criminal Justice Clinic (2019). Alex served as a law clerk for the Public Defender for the District of Columbia (2018), law clerk Alexandria Office of the Public Defender (2018), and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Zuberi Bakari Williams at the District Court of Maryland for Montgomery County (2017).

Alex loves spending time with his family, dogs, and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

Erin Sargent

Legal Assistant

Erin joined the firm in January 2021 as a legal assistant. Previously, Erin was a dedicated elementary and preschool Montessori school teacher for 10+ years. She has a strong background in education and working with children with special needs. She continues to tutor children one-on-one. 

Erin received her BA from Earlham College (Richmond, Indiana) and her MA in Teaching from Willamette University (Oregon). Her attention to detail and organizational skills (and incredible patience!) help attorneys more effectively advocate for our clients.

When not at work, Erin enjoys going for walks on the beach, reading books and making crafts, including jewelry.
